Along with Cantonese classics, you will find flavors of Shanghai and Sichuan.

Red 8 is Encore Boston Harbor’s signature Asian restaurant for casual and celebratory dining experiences, featuring both classic dishes and the surprising, hard-to-find delicacies.

Dim sum, wok-tossed noodles, duck, and seafood capture the spotlight on Red 8’s menu, which is punctuated with authentic, regional, Asian specialties. Known for serving Boston’s best Chinese food, the skillfully prepared Peking Duck comes straight from the wood-fire oven and the whole steamed fish presentation is a feast for the eyes and the palate. From the tank Maine Lobster or Oysters with Black Bean Sauce pair it with Yang Chow Fried Rice, or hand-pulled BBQ Pork & Vegetable Chow Mein.

The main dining room is saturated with rich reds and layers of unique textures, including mahogany and brass accents, red crocodile walls and railings, blue and white chinoiserie, marble floors, and coved ceilings. The restaurant features two of the most exclusive private dining rooms in the city, which allow for elegant and intimate experiences, complete with glowing alabaster urns, chandeliers of Venetian Rubino glass and Lazy Susans on grand, round tables.

“I grew up surrounded by the flavors of China and Macau, where food is more than a meal, it’s a way to bring people together,” said Kevin HanQing Yuan, Executive Chef of Red 8 at Encore Boston Harbor. “Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to cook in kitchens around the world, from Macau to San Francisco, and each experience has shaped how I approach both tradition and innovation.”

With more than 25 years of experience, Chef Yuan brings a global perspective to Red 8’s kitchen, blending time-honored techniques with a modern sensibility. Before joining Encore Boston Harbor, he led culinary teams at Ilani Casino in Washington and Imperial Garden, and honed his craft at acclaimed destinations including Hakkasan in San Francisco and top luxury properties throughout Macau. “It’s an honor to be part of Red 8 and to share authentic Chinese cuisine with our guests in Boston,” he said. “We focus on quality, technique, and sourcing ingredients that allow each dish to speak for itself.”

At Red 8, guests can explore a menu that spans regions and traditions, from Cantonese classics to bold flavors of Sichuan and Shanghai. “There’s something special about the variety we offer,” Yuan said. “Whether it’s our signature Peking Duck, delicate dim sum, or wok-fired noodles, every dish is meant to be both comforting and memorable.”

“For me, it’s always about the guest experience,” he added. “I want people to feel a sense of discovery when they dine with us, but also a sense of familiarity and warmth. When they leave, they should feel like they’ve experienced something authentic, something worth coming back for.”

I love Sichuan and Chinese cuisine, and Red 8 offered a wide array of classic and authentic Asian cuisine as well as American favorites. They offer delicious tea, beer, and cocktails to complement their delectable food. The staff is incredible and I would go back there anytime for any of their entrees or soups! I loved it!"
